Gary Shirley wants Amber Portwood to cough it up – but according to Amber, she already has.
According to an insider, this is one of many reasons the two have a “rocky” relationship.
Things between Amber Portwood and Gary Shirley have changed recently.
Though the two have never quite seen eye-to-eye, an insider has claimed that now things are “rocky” between them.
“For a long time, they had a great relationship and considered each other to be extended family,” the source told Us Weekly. “But now, it’s getting rocky again.”
The potential backlog of child support seems to be at the center of their issues.
“He’s claiming that Amber has not paid child support for years and he may want to take her to court for back payments,” the source explained to Us.
“Because their relationship was so long ago, Gary and Amber never set up formal protocols for payments.”
But a source who is close to Amber claims that Amber has, in fact, been paying her baby daddy.
“Amber has given him cashier’s checks and cash over the years every time she was supposed to. She has some receipts,” the insider told Us.
“She’s been open with her struggles, and it’s devastating this is happening with the father of her child.”
But the 16 & Pregnant alum is not letting the turmoil in her personal life hold her back from finding love.
A source recently told @teenmomfanz, “She is ready to move on, it’s time to move on.”
They claimed that the mother of two has been doing the work to heal.
Amber has been in therapy and the time to explore her options in the dating world is here,” stated the insider. “She wants to put herself out there in a healthy way to avoid past mistakes.”
As for Gary, he wasted no time moving on.
According to @teenmomfanz, he got engaged again in August.

“We can confirm Gary proposed to his new lady friend last weekend at a restaurant in Seattle, Washington,” the outlet continued.
Shortly after this news broke, an insider confirmed what we all suspected – that this had been hard news for Amber to process.
She is still reeling from the whirlwind experience,” a source exclusively told Us Magazine this summer. “As long as Gary realizes that he will always be Amber’s ex, best of luck.”
The source found that Gary’s new engagement was “quick.”
“The previous engagement is just airing on the show so it seems really, really quick,” they told the outlet.
Amber shared a statement to Us that simply said, “Congratulations.”
On the show, she was far more emotional about the situation.
The reality star said to executive producer Kiki Malone on Teen Mom: The Next Chapter, “This man broke me.”
“I was stable,” she explained before a psychiatry appointment that was filmed earlier this summer. “Right now, this is the first time in years in my life — I am 34 — I am not f**king right because a man put a ring on my finger.
“You broke me because we were actually in love.”
